This week we donned our boiler suits and grabbed our brooms for a bit more bat roost housekeeping…
We recently carried out a Preliminary Roost Appraisal at a site in Ilfracombe, North Devon. The survey identified a very large lesser horseshoe maternity roost, which we are looking forward to monitoring over the next few months. As a goodwill gesture, we offered to have a good tidy-up before the bats return in the late spring. The amount of droppings was causing quite a strong smell, which we have now rectified by removing 8 bin bags of poo!
Top Tip – The homeowner was advised bat poo makes an excellent garden fertiliser!
