We were really lucky to find six barbastelle bats roosting in bat boxes we installed in a woodland at a landfill site in Devon during a routine check.
We have assisted with a number of planning applications for the site and as part of our enhancement recommendations we put up a number of bat boxes several years ago. Barbastelles are a woodland bat species and one of the UK’s rarest mammals. the photo was taken using an endoscope. The bat has been ringed in the past, so we will now endeavour to find out more about this precious colony of bats.
